Hospice Resale Shoppe

First up is the Hospice Resale Shoppe located in Disston Plaza at 3533 49th Street in St. Petersburg. I'd say this store has an emphasis on furniture and clothes- a bit mazelike to navigate. In a back corner you'll find a stash of Christmas figurines, decorations, and other seasonal knick-knacks to peruse. Rounding out their inventory are books and various housewares. All in all, a decent sized store.

Hospice is a non-profit organization dedicated to help the dying and their loved ones in moving forward in the face of grief and fear.

As someone who can get lost in the blink of an eye, here I have a shot of the road sign. Keep an eye out for it on the LEFT as you travel south on 49th Street from Park Blvd.

As I was searching for information on thrift stores in Pinellas County, I was disheartened by the lack of resources specific to the area. While there is a great website, thethriftshopper.com, that will list stores in a given area, and has ratings available, I found the ratings somewhat meaningless and just wanted to know the straight facts on a store.

After visiting a whole slew of stores in Pinellas (and a few in Tampa) I figured that there's no reason not to compile the information myself.

While I make no guarantees on frequency of posts or updates on the stores offerings, I do endeavor to do the following for the thrift stores that I visit:

• List their address and provide landmarks for easy finding
• Provide hours/days of operation
• Describe offerings, weekly specials
• Photos of the storefront, and if permitted, within the store itself
• What group/charity (if applicable) the store benefits, and services that organization provides

I believe that says it all.
